New Year: Trends to Look Forward to in 2012

Ladies and gentlemen, this is truly going to be a blog of many colors. 2012 is going to be an amazing year for colors and patterns if these first few weeks have been any indication. Here are a few of the biggest trends you have to look forward to in color for this year.

1. NEUTRALS

Multi-dimensional neutrals are a big hit this year. By layering together different neutral shades, you can create a modern look that still has edge. Try shades of taupe, gray, khaki, brown, olive and black to take this trend for a spin.

2. PASTELS

Last year, vibrant, loud and crazy were the words to describe the shocking fluorescent colors of the super-popular neon trend of 2011 that added pops of wow factor and crazy colors to everything. This year, those crazy colors take a step back into the more subdued pastel territory, so now you can add color without looking like a traffic light.

And last, but certainly not least...

3. TANGERINE TANGO

Pantone has named Tangerine Tango the color of 2012, and what a fabulous color it is! This vibrant orange-poppy shade is already the star of countless lookbooks and trend reports. If this color is the hot color of 2011, I can't wait to start incorporating it into my daily life!
