Seeing Stripes: Chevron

Chevron is an awesome pattern that manages to jazz up a plain stripe. Stripes are nice, but chevron takes it to a whole new level simply by adding bends into the works. Chevron or "zig-zag" patterns have been around for  ages, and it's a print that never really goes away. Italian fashion house Missoni is famous for its colorful knit chevron patterns, and this motif was splattered all over a line that Target and Missoni collaborated on, Missoni for Target, a line of housewares, clothing, accessories, office supplies and more. Major designer-for-Target lines pop up a few times a year, and man, was this one a hit! The website received so much traffic in the first 24 hours that many were unable to access the Target website until the traffic died down (including yours truly). The majority of the women's clothing line and the accessories line sold out in the first two hours of the line going live online, and many other products from the line sold out rapidly. Personally, I went to my local Target the weekend following the release in the hopes that just maybe they would have some things left. Unfortunately, all of the clothing and accessories were sold out, but I did hit the jackpot in housewares, where I picked up a coordinating glass, plate and bowl, at a combined price that was less than ten dollars! The point of this lengthy anecdote is that a simple pattern made this line famous, and it's a pattern that can be used in many, many different products because of its versatility. Enjoy the pictures below and have a great weekend!
