(From April 7, 2013):
Kim Note here: In today's Washington Post, there is a great obituary written about Lilly Pulitzer. It speaks on how she started out producing her famously garish-colored shifts/smocks. Her line started with the need to cover up stains from the fresh fruits she was selling at her fruit stand. It was a great story about her life in fashion that had an accidental start.
From Lilly's FB page:
Early this morning, Lilly Pulitzer Rousseau passed away peacefully in Palm Beach, surrounded by family and loved ones. Lilly has been a true inspiration to us and we will miss her.
In the days and weeks ahead we will celebrate all that Lilly meant to us. Lilly was a true original who has brought together generations through her bright and happy mark on the world.
